Daina Schnese is a RYT 200 and a Reiki Master intern from Minnesota. Her yoga journey began back in 2009; while she went to college and received her degree in broadcast journalism in 2013, she fell in love with yoga, instead. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and certifications as a yoga/pilates teacher under YogaFit with three years of teaching already under her belt.
While at the University of Missouri, she taught at the Rec Center and worked with collegiate and professional athletes. As an athlete herself, Daina knew what it felt like to start the yoga journey completely inflexible. She was able to combine her knowledge of sports and yoga to help basketball players achieve higher verticals, golfers longer drives, and football players quicker recovery time from injuries.
It wasn’t until 2014 that Daina received her 200-hour certification and became a RYT. She found herself living in Florida, and stumbled upon a teacher training course offered by Jonny Kest called LifePower Yoga. The main three principles taught were slow flow yoga (gentle yoga with the eyes closed), power vinyasa (heated classes at a faster pace), and Ashtanga yoga. Her teaching style combines all three principles which makes for an intense practice for both the mind and the body.
Fast-forward to 2017 when she began her Reiki journey in Florida, receiving her Level I and Level II certifications over the next couple of years. She began her Reiki Master course in October 2020, and will be attuned Reiki Master in 2021. As a Reiki Master intern, Daina offers private sessions, Reiki circles, space clearing, and land and home blessings.
Daina also has an apprentice-style background in psychology, having worked as a ghost writer and editor for a renowned psychotherapist in Florida for four years. She has helped write online courses, blogs, and monthly newsletters on attachment styles and imago therapy. She uses her background in psychology to better her teaching styles in both yoga and Reiki.
